The International Academy for Information Management (IAIM) is a not-for-profit association founded in 1986 and dedicated to promoting excellence in information management education, practice, and research. The objective of IAIM is to provide a forum in which interdisciplinary researchers and educators in information systems can exchange ideas, techniques, and applications. This objective is realized through activities & publications.

At its annual meeting in December 2002, the membership of IAIM voted to affilitate with the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and effective January 1, 2003 the International Academy for Information Management (IAIM) will be officially known as AIS SIGED: IAIM (the Educational Special Interest Group of AIS). The annual conference will continue to be held the weekend preceeding ICIS. Please see our new bylaws for details.

IAIM sponsors the International Conference on Informatics Education Research in December at which competitively selected peer-reviewed papers and panel discussions are presented. A Best Paper Award is announced and all papers presented are published in the proceedings, which are distributed free to conference registrants and IAIM members. IAIM also sponsors the Alpha Iota Mu honor society for information systems majors as well as the Journal of Informatics Education Research which publishes refereed articles addressing excellence in MIS education and promotes teaching what an information professional needs to know to manage IS effectively -- including technical skills, managerial skills & frameworks.
