P. Candace Deans, Karen D. Loch
This research provides empirical results of a longitudinal study designed to evaluate trends toward internationalization ofthe information systems (IS) curriculum. Results reported in this study reflect changes over a five yearperiod. There is evidence to suggest that significant curriculum development contributions have been made during this time span in the international IS domain. A proliferation ofliterature that addresses the international dimension of the IS field has developed avera relatively short period oftime. The evidence also indicates that considerable effort has been devoted to including an international dimension in the introductory information systems course. This study provides the first comparison ofinternational IS curriculum trends over time and in the context ofbroader international business educational reform. This work provides IS educators with a base from which to evaluate the best approach for internationalizing the IS curriculum and a benc hmark from which to proceed.
