The Journal ofEducation for MIS is published in conjunction with the International Academy for Information Management (LAIM). The goal ofboth the Journal and LAIM is to further research in information systems education and the dissemination ofthat research.
In 1997, LAIM washeld in Atlanta, Georgia; the 1998meeting will be held in Helsinki-a truly international meeting. When the directors met at the national meeting in Atlanta, there was much discussion concerning the future ofthe journal. It wasdecided that not only should !AIM continue supporting the journal, but that the journal be expanded to include additional issues. Our goal is to provide an outlet for quality research in information systems education. An editorial board will be formed and reviewers sought throughout the world. When Dennis Bialaszewski and E. F. Peter Newson began the first edition ofthe Journal ofEducation for MIS, they stated, "It is important for us to keep abreast ofcurrent educational philosophies through the works of quality educators in the Information systems areas. Moreover, it is important to keep in tune with international dimensions."
Thank you, Dennis and Peter, for ail your time and efforts for many years. Another thanks to those who reviewed the papers for this edition of the Journal ofEducation for MIS. We have an excellent selection ofpapers covering many different aspects ofIS education and hope that you will not only enjoy them, but will benefit from the experiences and research of your peers.
