The Journal of Informatics Education Research (JIER) is sponsored by the Association of Information Systems (AIS) special interest group in education, SIGED: IAIM. JIER evolved from the Journal of Education for MIS which was sponsored by the International Academy for Information Management (IAIM). SIGED: IAIM was created in 2003 by the merger of the IAIM and the Association for Information Systems (AIS). The Journal of Informatics Education Research shares its original sponsors’ ideals and mission of promoting excellence in information systems pedagogy, instruction, curriculum, and educationally-oriented research.
AIS is a global professional society for information systems academics that was founded in 1994 and has more than 4,000 members in 50 countries. It sponsors the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the leading international conference for information systems research as well annual conferences in each of its world regions.
To ensure that AIS is truly global, its leadership rotates through three world regions: the Americas, Europe-Mid-East-Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Members of AIS receive the Journal of Informatics Education Research free of charge as a benefit of membership. Membership applications and information concerning AIS and SIGED: IAIM may be found online at www.aisnet.org. JIER submission guidelines forms can be found online at the AIS SIGED: IAIM web site and here at this site.
In 2007, JIER published its final print issue (Volume 9, No. 1) and began it transition to being an online venue for substantially re-worked versions of Best Papers and Best Paper nominees for education tracks at ICIS, AIS regional conferences (AMCIS, ECIS, PACIS) and AIS chapter conferences (e.g. AAIS), and SIGED: IAIM annual conferences.
Eligible manuscripts undergo a double-blind review process. Manuscripts are submitted as a word-processing file (Word) attached to an e-mail.
