Possible Topics
The journal publishes articles on a wide range of IS education and curricular issues. Beginning with volume 10, JIER articles were Best Paper nominees and winners in the education tracks at AIS-sponsered conferences
Researchers intrested in publishing in JIER are encouraged to submit their manuscripts to education tracks at AIS-sponsered conferences including: AMCIS, ECIS, PACIS, SAIS, MWAIS.
ICIS, and SIGED: IAIM. All Best Paper finalists at the conferences are eligable to revise their conference papers for inclusion in JIER. The education tracks at AIS conferences accept papers on a wide variety of topics including:
- the development of testing and successful curricula models
- the development, implementation, & testing of effective instructional approaches
- innovative uses of active learning and non-lecture instructional methods in IS courses
- the results of surveys and other assessments of industry/employer needs
- the evaluation of instructional strategies, designs, and methodologies
- the impact of emerging/evolving information technologies on IS curricula
- theoretical research or case studies which highlight significant organizational and technical issues in IT management and implications for information systems pegagogy and curricula
- the impacts of globilization on IS curricula and pedagogy
- incorporating ethical issues in IS curricula and courses
- web-based and internet-based instructional approaches
- specific instructional approaches/insights that other IS educators can emulate
- collaberated learning and virual teamwork
- managing student-oriented information technology in educational institutions
- instructional strategies and implications that promote 21st century skill sets
- best practices in the utilization of learning technologies in IS course and curriculum
- teaching cases
