ABSTRACT

In recent years the terms distance learning, distance education, and on-line asynchronous education, although referring to different elements, have been used by many to refer to the entire milieu ofdistance learning. The articles presented here reflect this disparity and non-uniformity ofnomenclature, as do the references cited. This disparity is one of the reasons for the inconsistent results cited in many papers because the areas being researched are not exactly the same.
